Card wipe + Mask?

maybe try mixing in shatter. I dont think I actually understand fully your goal. Could you post alink to the ad you are referring to?

Hi, I am having problems trying to add a mask to the crad wipe layer of my comp. The effect I am creating is similar to that of the C4 Big Brother advert running in the UK. I am running imported footage to show on the back layer of the card wipe but I do not want the square edges of each slat showing. I need a shaped mask for this. Whether I apply the mask to the effect solid layer or footage layer or both it does not work correct. Is it possible, hope I explained it properly.??

dunno how it looks exactly, but what you are describing can only be achieved using nesting/ pre-comping. Card wipe is a pseudo-3D effect that will ignore any masks, so any of that has to be done inside another comp.

Nice one. I cant beleive I didn't pre-comp it. In my haste to acheive it I dropped the whole caboodle on one comp! All 5 layers.. Thanks for slaping me in the face, im happy now. Job done.
