View Full Version : Spring ’07 launch for PAL Revolution
Just_David 05-29-2005, 04:30 AM Good, roll on xb360. Surely another nail in Nintendos coffin for europeans?
Nintendo’s GameCube successor looks certain to be the final major next-generation platform to launch in all territories – with sources close to the Japanese giant suggesting the system will not hit PAL territories until Spring 2007.

I'm not sure where you have been for the past 20 years, but europe always gets things a few months after everybody else. For example we still havent gotten the psp. Why should anyone expect the revolution to be different?
Wake me up when non-obvious news comes.

and thats an understatement, we still have not got Final Fantasy 11 on PS2 and that came out over a year ago in the US.

like duh! What i mean was, with Nintendo AS USUAL treating the europoen market as they have why would we who live in europe want to wait for it that long..since xb360 and PS3 will be out long before.
Another nail in the coffin for Nintendo perhaps then?

You have the european ps3 release date? what is it?
i'd lay money on it being released before xmas 2006

how much money you got ?
i bet they will say it will be out before xmas 2006 and then at the last minute change it so they can meet demand in the usa....
i think they've already stated in this weeks MCV (uk trade rag) that they were looking at a european summer release...which usually means it will be out in limited supply before xmas.
if all the PR/specs/dates/costs are true then i think sony will rape the market, xbox suffering with people delaying a purchase untile PS3 arrives and nintendo coughing in the dust from the stampede.
If thats not the case (lets face it that wouldnt be a shock) i have a feeling that MS will have to slash their prices again, sony will be late and limited, and nintendo may just cling on (probably with another 2-3 handhelds)...in otherwords same as before.

Wow that is 2 years from now... that is damn late. I mean I knwo that Europe usually gets alot of these late, but that is REALLY late - like a whole year later than the "expected" arrival date for us here in NTSC land (I am assuming that we will see the Rev here in the US around springtime 2006).

You know sometimes i wonder.. What could they be doing that is going to take nearly 2 years? I mean thinka about it.. The hardware is reportantly 2-3 more powerful than the GC, sooo then.. not that hard to design and manufacture ??????? << ???
What could they be focusing on?

Nintendo is just playing to it's strongest buyer demographic, which is Japan and the USA. It's quite normal. Hey, Europe still quite often gets things before Australia! :D
And their major focus is on handhelds. That's their biggest seller and they intend to keep it that way. With the PSP they have a serious threat to a long standing domination of that particular market. It's no coincidence that their most recent consoles (The gamecube and the upcoming Revolution) both revolve around handheld interaction.

yeah and how many kids do you know have the money for a GC and a handheld? They dont market towards adults, its obvious in their games ( bar a handful )..

We’re currently looking at mirroring the DS strategy, so Revolution would release in the US first in November, closely followed by Japan – then we’re looking at March 2007 for PAL territories
[in the above quote, they are talking about November of next year --> 2006]
3 MONTH DIFFERENCE!
thats not to bad when Finding Nemo was out on DVD in the US when Europe it didn't even have it in the theaters yet. also, we don't even know if this is true or not. lets wait to we see the system and get word from Nintendo, not a news site.
also, i still don't understand why Europe gets everything 5 years late...?
LOL!... I thought that PAL Revolution was something important, like a PAL HDTV implementation or something.
EDIT: I know this is important... but not important like a complete transition to an HDTV format accross the PAL using countries of the would. Especially if they plan a 2007 implementation.

Is there a difference between European HDTV and US HDTV and Japanese HDTV?
Obviously PAL and NTSC is quite a bit different, but what about the HDTV standard??
Sorry to take OT... the way it has been explained to me, there is no current initiative to take broadcast from PAL to HDTV in most of Europe, but that may be old news... I just haven't heard anything new, and for one reason or another, the thread title made me think this was it.

Last I saw most kids don't buy them, their parents do. :D
And what classifies as an adult game? I own a ton of GC and GBA games and I've loved every one of them.

Why would anyone not want Nintendo to do well? They're the last of the true game console companies that got into the business to make games. Unlike some others who got into the business to extend their software monopoly into a hardware monopoly.
