View Full Version : help needed in negotiations
Ayreon 10-14-2002, 03:24 PM Hi everyone!
I've got a question. I recently lost my job :(
My former employer bought Lightwave when I started working there. Now that I've lost my job there are no more people working at the company that know how to use Lightwave, so my former employer has offered it to me. I have an appointment with him on friday to discuss the price.
What do you think is a reasonable price? It's Lightwave 7.0b, serial dongle, no dual format disc, only PC version. It's about 1,5 years old.
Anyone got some advice on this? What would you pay for it??
Thanks for any advice you can give me.

Be sure you take documentation to show the price drop.
If you are sure you will be buying it, then even $100 will be good. But I think they will be able to do much better than that.... They probably don't want to mess with finding another buyer.

THAT IS EXACTLEY how I got my LW5.6,, make sure you get a letter from whom ever holds the Regestration, stating that they are transfereing that reg and make sure it has all the needed numbers included....
By the way.. I paid 25 dollars for my copy,,,,,,,, not that that is all LW is worth,,, but the company was in blow out mode,, everything that had depreciated was "given" away to the leaving employees...,,, got a bunch of other goodies too!!!!!

Thanks for the replies!
I know the company is in financial trouble, that's why I lost my job. I guess I'll try to get a very low price, but I also know my former employer, and he's a real money hungry sob!!
Well, if anyone knows a good site where I can show him current price drops then please let me know!
I'll go and try to find some myself.

Don't shoot yourself in the foot Aryeon. If you only want to pay $600 for it, don't offer more than $300 start with. You have some room to negotiate AND you never know......
Personally, I'd start the bidding around $100 bucks. After all, you're out of a job and they might view it as doing something nice to help you out. Unless they gave you 100k severence package!
