Here are the beginnings of my new illustration. This will be my first full digital illustration ever. I'm using Illustrator CS to do the illustration.

Here's the main character and focal point of the painting, the "Alien Commando Bunnies" and the enemies, the "Mutant Carnivorous Carrots":

I did the sketches on notebook paper (just a habit I got into in school so I could draw and not get bothered by my teachers). I'll get these on something w/o lines once I finalize the drawings.

Does anyone know how or if you can make variable width outlines in Illustrator CS? The "brushes" that come with Illustrator look pretty good but I don't want to use one of those because it wouldn't be original...like using a filter in Photoshop. Is there a way to make your own brushes so the outline would be personal?

Thanks everyone. I'll try to get a sketch of the whole scene up soon. I've been working on the bunny, then I was going to finish up the the scene sketch.

Thanks for the replies, I do like the carrots. I've actually taken out the bunny dropship you see in the background. This will be set in a jungle atmosphere w/ mayan type ruins around. I want the scene to look very primitive, like the carrots. The bunnies are invading the carrot homeworld looking for a food source. :)
