Obviously this soldier didn't make out too well with the testing. Not very beastly, though. I think it was supposed to look more menacing than it turned out.

About an hour-ish, photoshop CS and an Intuos.
iamjijav: That looks great! :)

whats Yucca Flats?
Apparently it's a nuclear testing site in Nevada. "The Beast of Yucca Flats" was also notoriously awful horror flick (some say it's actually worse than "Plan 9 From Outer Space," though I haven't had the pleasure of watching it).

Apparently it's a nuclear testing site in Nevada. "The Beast of Yucca Flats" was also notoriously awful horror flick (some say it's actually worse than "Plan 9 From Outer Space," though I haven't had the pleasure of watching it).Actually, that would be Yucca Mountain. I don't know about the movie, though.
Anyways, I was trying for something a bit different than my usual sketchy line work on this one. I already had the idea for the glowing throat and all that, though. What do you guys think?

This is the first illustrated anything i've done in more than a year, that's why it happens to suck so horribly bad.
Really need to spend a day practicing sometime....
painter ~1.5hours (whilst listening to gorillaz - feel good inc on repeat)
cheers.
From rotten tomatoes:
"300-pound wrestler Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka plays a noted Russian nuclear scientist chased by Commie spies into the desert where he runs right into an atomic blast and is turned into a hair-eating, club-wielding monster who befriends the local rabbits. Brief nudity at the opening rape scene. Considered one of the worst movies ever made."

As I was learning to use my tablet, my roomate asked me how it felt. The best way I could describe it was that you were a bit removed, almost like doing a blind contour drawing. So, for this one I ran with that idea a bit. I did it as a contour drawing, in a way. I did each item as a contour and then went in and did some hatching, and then colored it. I was using the russian theme along with the rabbits. Though this man is no "snuka", he reflects the internal agony an the frailty of the effects of radiation
PS/Wacom 1 hour

Hey digital_embryo! Thanks. It is my first attempt at a creature design. It's the typical brute creature. The design is a mix-up of a gorilla, snake, and a ram.

Thany dude, with 3 hour skills like that do one sketch a week for a year and you'll have over 50 badass sketches in a year. Nice sketch. You'll really be able to beef up your portfolio site. I want to see more of those sketches on your site... 3 hours is really good for a sketch like that. Keep it up!

I didn't really know what the yucca flats reference was, but thanks to an intrepid soul brave enough to pose the question I leaped at it. My sorta idea was a mutant living in an abandoned bunker under the testing zone. So this is my shot at it, an hour and a half, photoshop and ma trusty tablet.
Cheers guys

The Beast Of Yucca Flats is the worst movie ever made. Period. And also one of the best episodes of Mystery Science Theater 3000 ever... :-)

It took me 1.5 hours and was done in painter classic
I have not see the movie but for the purposes of this sketch I imagined that the beast lives in the half buried vehical eating old rations the truck carried.
