View Full Version : modo demo lost
pwallin 05-27-2005, 01:10 PM About month ago I downloaded Modo demo and because of M&S challenge I did not had time to install and try it. Now I do not remember where I downloaded that file and I am asking someone to tell me what is the name of download file so that I can search it from my hd?
Another thing. I received a e-mail from Luxology that because my tryout period is over I could buy it and so on...but is my tryout period over because I just downloaded it, but not installed it?

You basically have the full verson of modo on your HDD...its your licene file that is timed for 30 days. So even if you dont install modo, the licene file generated is counting down.
email cs at luxology dot com
They should be able to sort you out.

License file still goes on? That's stupid as running purpousely against a wall...
But my main concern is what is the name of uninstalled file? At least I would like to delete it...

..or downloading/activating a license and not using it.

By not using it I meant I can't! And therefore deleting it if I can't get another stupid license to try it out.
You should read posts better. I meant to try it, but then this competition took every 3D -time I had, so this ends up to thinking what's YOUR problem?

You said that it was stupid to activate the license when you downloaded it, that is what I addressed. If you check out some of the other threads in here about the demo you will see that you can extend your trail period.

I did not said anything like that. I just downloaded a program-file. Did nothing to "license" it.
Or if I did, it was a really stupid thing from Luxology to hide that process or not make it clear to a foreigners.

The action of downloading the license key file 'activates' it.
You can request a 15 day extension on the luxology.com site. Just sign into your account go to the myAccount->Production Evaluation page and you should see a 'Request An Extension' link underneath your eval entry.

So I could just download a demo, but not license key?

So I have to immediately start using demo when I receive it?

So I have to immediately start using demo when I receive it?
Why do you need to have the demo if you aren't going to use it?
That is the part where you said it was stupid. (comparing it against the immediate activation.) That's stupid as running purpousely against a wall...
Just like when you said it was a really stupid thing from Luxology
As for for stupid actions it seems it is:you-2 Luxology-0

Yes, but as Jason said, you can add more days to it, so everything is cool. :)

Cool if I can find that uncompressed file from my hd (no luck yet), and if I still can have my full 30 days of tryout after finding it
This is ridicilous, since I always wanted a Modo demo, even posted comment when it was not available and wondered what is the cause...
Now I got it, but (I think) lost whole thing before I got change to try it. This is a first time I got evolved such a thing, damn! Other demos I have loaded are been just so easy to get...just load that damn thing when you find it, receive a password (or not if not needed). Then wait as long as you want, then start to trying it out when you have time for it for that 30 days.

With the modo evaluation version we give you an unrestricted application with no strings attached. No vertex limit, poly limit, load save limits, nothing... The license can be renewed to suit your needs to evaluate it. To change modo into a "demo" version would require the efforts of developers whose time is currently dedicated to making it bigger and better.

I have to admit that I am really amazed at this thread. Look, if you "misplaced" your demo, then simply go to www.luxology.com and download the demo again. How hard is that? If you had downloaded it AND installed it previously, then go to your START menu (if you are on Windows) or wherever you installed it if on a MAC and try running the thing. If you cannot remember where you installed it (not where you downloaded it too) then do a search. Both systems have a means of searching for files. If you do know where it is installed and cannot run it because your activation has timed out then simply contact Luxology for an extension.
Man! Was that so hard? And all this from someone that states they had ALWAYS wanted to try the Modo demo (and then they download it, forget about it and then cannot even find it). If I told my wife that I ALWAYS love her and then treated her like you treated the Modo demo then I think my love would be suspect, don't you?

It's hard because it needs to go that time consuming process again. And it sounds like I am already registered (or something) so I think it sounds like I am trying to get another 30 day license which sounds I am like some pirate user or something.

You seem to be one of those who did not read my first post properly where I told why I did not run it immediatly I got it.

I understand, but it was not too clear to understand how your "evaluating" version is a different from a demo. Keep in mind I do not speak a native english.

I read your first post. I was just cover most options for you since you cannot seem to figure this one out very well.
Also, why would you post these questions on the CGTalk forum (though, yes, they are in the correct place here)? The proper place to get support for Modo is over at the Luxology forum. Besides the forum Luxology also has contact email addresses and phone numbers. When someone has a problem with an application (even a demo) the first place they usually go is to the company that makes and supports the prodct.
I have to tell you, I think some of us came off a bit strong on you because of how you claimed what Luxology was doing was "stupid" and yet you did not see that what you did was not very wise itself. Not only did you "lose" the demo you downloaded, but you did not even go to the proper place for support.

Dan, why do you care, if I may ask?
It's always fun to visit the modo forum on cgtalk and see how worked up everyone gets when someone posts their questions and comments about modo.

For such a simple thing as asking "what is the name of the file of mododemo", why not ask from here? If I will have problem with "licence" I will contact Luxology, but at first I just needed to get that damn file for first to try if it opens and second deleting it from waisting my hd space if I can't use it. Simple as that.
Now that I have given a name of the file I am happy (even I haven't found it, which may be because I swithed machines and file may be on older machine or I have just deleted it).
Ok, I apologise for being rude, but It was not fun to realize this "licence" starts even you do not open that program at all.
