The movie looks like it has a lot of character, which is the most important part, I think, of this story. I'm really looking forward to seeing this film.
Though Grandpa Joe seems to be a lot more obviously evil in this version... In the old Gene Wilder version they kinda danced around the whole Grandpa Joe = Evil (http://www.saynotogrampajoe.com/) issue. =P

It's all looking like they've done a really good job with this one. Obviously the visual effects will be otustanding :)

yeah the guys downstairs (here) have just wrapped on the squirrels - they look awesome, some of the close up shots you cant tell which are real and which are cg.
anyone know if the outside of the factory modelled/matte painting or minature? that seemed to be the only thing that stood out to me.
cant wait to see this movie!

I believe it was a miniature done by cinesite.
We've wrapped today as well! Time to get drunk!

The squirrels are real
Lord: You talking to someone who works at the company that did the CG squirrels there....
Most of the time, the squirrels are real. When they are sitting around cracking nuts. But have you ever met a group of trained squirrels who can work together to grab a girl and throw her in a hole in the floor?
Nope? Me neither...

Yeah I thought that some were real since I read a report that they training them.
So, when that squirrel is hitting the girl's face, its fake?
That must have been very exciting to work on the film.

i think somewhere in the region of 100 shots of the squirrels are cg (one of the charlie guys cold confirm that) - even some of the nut cracking shots are cg.
the guys did have a good time on that show, and the fact it looks so real i would imagine makes it really satisfying - alot of them are working on potter now ;)
btw i heard the mpc work is awesome - the chocolate river looks spot on, but i thought there would be more oomp-loompas in the trailer though?

I didn't know there was a ratings classification item known as "Quirky Situations"!

I love it! My childhood revisited (though I watch it every 2 years on TV).
This looks so dynamic and wacky, I'm anxious to see this movie all modernized and looking all spiffy with CG.

Cool, this is looking a lot more 'together', if a bit sappy in the VO, compared to the earlier trailers..the super creepy vibe from those was cool, but it's nice to see they're not completely round the bend. I also like how it's seeming more modern but retro at the same time. And oompa-loompas! All that replication must have been maddening..it's only really obvious in the boat shot, there's just so many of them..but still, very cool and interesting. Gonna be a heck of a movie season after all.
