View Full Version : mental ray fg radius rule of thumb?
MikeBracken 05-26-2005, 11:50 PM Hello.
I know that scene size determins fg and gi radius(for speed). Is there a rule of thumb for determining the radius size of each? For example:a chair 20x20x50. What would be the formula for determining the radius for this scene?
Any help would be apreciated.

By default, it's 1/10 of the scene extents. So in the case you're mentioning, I believe it would default to 5 (1/10 of 50).

Thanks for the quick replies.
This forum is so helpful. I always try the reference first, but the Mental Ray help files are pretty vague. Thanks to all those who take the time to help.
