115 views and no replies... maybe i should have said, comments welcome. hehe.

ahem. comments welcome.

(if you can't tell what it is, it is "supposed" to be a mask fading into eternity with the remains of it's wearer... hince the light streaks of a man behind the mask that is now shreading to peaces.)

:surprised Well..... ummm... cool. Although it's missing something... like a subject. It's kind of like have a frosting without the cake, or brownies, or whatever you are in the mood for right now. I would love to see this effect in some sort of context. What that might be, I have no idea, that's you job.

thx. i was afraid that I had removed so much detail you wouldn't be able to tell what it was anymore... again, thank you for the replies.

this piece was done using an "infinite smudge" (paint shop pro - smudge density = 100) then brought into photoshop and ran through a series of filters.:bounce:

It's always fun to use filters when starting out with Pshop and other programs. You need to find out how they work, somehow. And then one day, you will stop using them. This will be a good thing. You'll realize that all of your stuff looks a lot better when you just use brushes and masks (things like that) and not filters. If it wasn't for the title I wouldn't even know what I am looking at.
I don't mean that to be harsh, that is how most of us work at first. In the beginning it looks really cool, and then after you look at them with a better eye they stop looking so good.

The smudge thing is really good in your style. It does make everything have an amorphus quality to it, and give it a neat flow. But as a general rule, dont use more than one or two major filters on your work unless you can hide the evidence.

Keep up the work, and BTW I really like you illustrator work. The cartoons, those are great.

thanks. ya, i know I need to lay off the filters... but there just so damn cool !!! hehe. But, your right, there's a lot more to it than just making something look cool. Special Effects and no plot make a lousy movie...

I don't see the mask or the person... :( It's a nicely done piece, but I just can't make out the subject matter!

Could you post a brief description? (God I feel stupid asking.) It's not one of those optical illusion things, where you stare at it long enough and it pops out, is it? :)

lol. Ok, i confess, this was a sad attempt at me trying to be "artsee" :arteest: . It's not really my specialty, but sometimes its good to take a break from the norm. thx for the feedback.

I think the picture looks awesome, don't get me wrong! I really get the sense of depth and the smoke is amazing.

I just... don't see the mask. You know?
