View Full Version : Invisible blueprints?

Hello all,

I followed (or tried to follow) the tut on Suurland, showing how to set up image planes in Max for blueprints. As per the tut, I made a plane with the same dimensions as my blueprint (3000 x 1200), then made a material which used the blueprint as the difuse map, and applied the material to the plane. It doesn't show up in the viewports, even though the textures on the other objects show up. I can see the change in the diffuse color of the plane, but not the image (in other words the plane was green, I set the diffuse to white, the plane is now white). I had the diffuse percentage on 100, so shouldn't the bitmap have taken over the difuse channel entirely (the blueprint is predominantly white, with black image lines)?

BTW, I have Max set to auto-generate UVs, and since I didn't change the shape of the plane at all, I figured that the UV-mapping would be sufficient to display the bitmap, especially since there's a 1-1 size correlation.

Just one final thought: I'm using JPG maps. Does that matter? Should I just convert them to TGA?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

JPG's should be fine are you sure you got "show material " switched on in the material editor ?

I think that may be the problem. When I created the new material, I don't recall clicking any options for "show material in viewport." I looked for the setting in the viewport configuration options, as I thought it was a global issue, not a material-specific one.

Thanks for the advice.
