View Full Version : maya SSS shader apply to faces???

Hello all,

I am having trouble with this shader, I thought that you could apply the shader to different polygon faces and all would be sweet, but thats not the case it seems to not work proper.

I have this model that I am trying to texture the body is separate as well as the head arms hands and feet. I have polygon projection on the torso cylinder, that seems to work perfectly, but when I start to texture the arm the texture doesnt seem to fit. (See attached image) Arm is cylinder projection as well. I have tried all sorta projections but none seem to look any good.

Is there no way that you can apply this texture on ploygon faces it would be so much better that way. otherwise I would have to combine the surfaces together, but that creates ploygon projection problems. I am not using light linking all lights are emit by default.

Any advice about texturing this model using the SSS shader will be greatly appreciated.

Hi

are you using the misss mentalray shader?

i had this problem to, i just connected all the lights to each sss shader and the lightmap shader
and that sems to do the trix
