Any idea how to align vertices to another, i know maya has a great system of snapping vertices to the position of another verticy along one axis. I know their is a perl script to do it but when i run it i get an error that no plane has been specified

vertexmonkey.com has a few scripts for that

What scripts did you run. Some need a parameter such as X, Y, or Z to work. Have a look at Vertexmonkey.com and look-up the script and its possible parameters.
