Hiya All,

I am trying to improve my texture skills :hmm:

Here is a wall sample that I have tried to put a stucco surface on:

http://www.2and2.net/Uploads/Images/Texture%20Test.jpg

Its ok but i have used drop shadows to make the stucco look like it hase some thickness but i don't think it's convincing. Also, the edges look to clean and smooth, I think they need to be more rought?

Are there any book, tuts or DVD's that cover this sort of thing?? Any suggestions??

Thanks a lot for looking :wavey:

Well stone is a hard material so it's likely to have hard edges. you could use drop shadows and inner shadows to givve it depth. remmember that layer effects can be converted to layers, so you can use different drop shadows on the same image, layers can have masks so you can mask out certain areas. try it, hope it helps. :)

Hiya NG

Thanks for the reply. I didn't know you could make effects into layers - thanks for that info.

Right click on the effects icon and create layers creates the layer, if nessecary you can clip them on the layer using a clipping mask, it depends how you want it to effect.

Forgot to mention it, in case you haven't find it out yet. :)
