Hi. I know this has been posted before but I couldn't find any helpfull info. Fresh formatted HD, WinXP SP2, 1GB RAM, R9.012 XL Bundle. NO additional plugins. Any render that takes more than a couple of minutes always crashes me. Sometimes after 5 minutes, sometimes after an hour. Happens on any scene. It just says CINEMA has unexpectedly quit. No explanation. I've has this problem since upgrading to R9. Didn't happen with XL6. Have reinstalled several times.

AMD Athalon XP 1800+, ATI 9600se, latest drivers. I have contacted MAXON and expect to hear back soon, but I talked to them about this before and they couldn't figure anything out besides reformat/install, etc.

I'm basically down and out with C4D right now. Anything anyone could offer up would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I have 4 similar AMD machines and had the same exact problem with one of them. I also tried clean installs and everything. After replacing many parts it turn out to be my Tyan motherboard was the culprit.

Since I built these machines myself I was able to swap out RAM, power supply, video cards etc to find the problem. The last thing I tried was the motherboard and it turned out to be the problem. Unfortunately this is not an easy thing to diagnose or replace. Hopefully this is not your problem but in my situation it was.

Hi,

Is your cooling suffeciant, this happened to me last year. As soon as the weather started changing my system kept hanging, took me ages to work out I needed extra cooling, after that no problems.

Also it has been reported on various posts that the ATI could be a problem, various problems have been had with ATI cards. Though I have unfortunately sold my C4D now, when I did have it I had crashes all the time, I have a ATI 9800.

You could go as far as changing the graphics card if that is an option.

Thanks for the replys. My comp is a kit purchased at a local shop a few years ago. Has been stable so far, but I wouldn't rule out any hardware as the culprit. I keep the sides off of the thing cause I heard that was better for keeping it cool, but I've read a few threds recently that contadicted that. Maybe a new fan or 2 could help. Also, I have 2 512 sticks so I can switch between them to see if thats the problem. I can also steal an nvidia card from my work and swap it with the ATI. I do plan on upgrading the MB and CPU eventually, but I may have to do it sooner than planned.

Thanks for the input. I'll have a go at these things and post back.
