does anyone else get this bug with painter when using artists oils?

if you use artists oils on layers above the background layer they don't blend. not with color on the same layer, nor with color on the underlings (even with "Pick up Underlying color" checked). the not with underlings i could handle, but that it wont even mix with colors on it's own layer rather limits the artists oils brushes useability unless i want to use it always on the background only :/

This works fine for me both picking up colour from layer below or on the same layer - I'm new to Painter IX but I almost always use Artists Oils (Wet Oily Brush). Just make sure you set the blending percetage high enough. I'm sure others will respond with more knowledge about brush settings.

Most Artist's Oils variants will blend on a Layer and also with underlying colors. You may just be using variants in circumstances where they don't blend color on the Layer or on underlying Layers or the Canvas.

I just did a fairly quick check (still it took a while with so many variants!) to see which Artist's Oils brush variants blend on a Layer, under what circumstances they blend, and what other brush variants' brushstrokes can be blended.

With all Artist's Oils variants restored to their default state (with the Dirty box unchecked, the followng brush variants blend color on a Layer under the circumstances listed below.

• Preserve Transparency box checked:

None

• Both Preserve Transparency and Pick Up Underlying Colors boxes unchecked, blending with existing color on the Layer:

All

Impasto Oil, Smeary Impasto, Soft Grainy Impasto, Thick Wet Impasto, Wet Impasto, and Wet Oily Impasto only blend brushstrokes that use Impasto depth and lighting.

• Preserve Transparency box unchecked and the Pick Up Underlying Color box first checked then unchecked, blending with existing color on the Layer and color on underlying Layers and the Canvas only the following variants will not blend (and most if not all will blend color on the Layer when the Pick Up Underlying Color box is unchecked):

Bristle Brush
Dry Clumpy Impasto
Grainy Impasto
Impasto Oil
Impasto Palette Knife
Smeary Impasto
Soft Grainy Impasto
Thick Wet Impasto
Wet Impasto
Wet Oily Impasto
