View Full Version : Corky the cork screw
spaeth1 05-25-2005, 04:53 PM Hi all, I'm in awe of this site, I just don't have enough time to absorb all the talent. I'm new to studio max , a few months now, and I'm ready for my first project. This is something I dreamed up after a few glasses of wine over dinner. This may take a while but I'd appreciate any crits, suggestions and help i can get to get this off the ground.
Anyway, here is corky: I think I'm going with number 5, I like the beady eyes. http://www2.uic.edu/%7Esspaet2/images/corky.JPG

Funny, I have the same cork screw at home. I use Maya, tho I'm sure its very do-able in any 3d application. Look forward to seeing your progress.

Beady eyes are good, but you should give him eyebrows.. That makes it easier to express emotions.
Good luck!

I totally agree with his comment...if you can't figure out how to embed the brows into the model think simply...just having them floating above the character...this type of creation is suitable for that style.

Thanks for the crits guys.
This is a real challange for me I still stumble on the little stuff. Takes me a good while to do anything. But I'm ready for an update here is some more, work. The little guy's arms are on the way. I just see him bouncing around in my head. I'm thinking he'll move around like er tiger from winnie the poo.
About the brows. I may have to add then in order to get enough expression, but I am hoping to deform the eye spheres enough to act as the brow see below. I like having these little googly eyes up top adding more elements will take away from the effect, and besides the mouth is soooo big it can do a lot?
Im having an issue with the body, when I add a Use Nurms Subdivision (I've been using this in the sub-d rollouts instead of mesh smooth, any difference?) I get this wierd skirting from one corner to another on the model, any thought how to coorect? see below.
