Alright, if you have a scene that's under water, and you want caustics glittering over everything in your scene, how do you go about it?
I can apply the 'underwater' texture to all of my surfaces, but that gets very time consuming, and you can't apply procedurals to lights, (so much as I've tried anyway) so is there a simple solution?
You can apply images, procedurals, and/or gradients to Lights.

i'd try making a 2D animation of a procedural that would make that pattern (black and white maybe), because you can give spotlights a projection image, and then just put that animation as the image.

Cool, thanks for the responses,
CIM, what settings do you need lights on to apply procedurals?
Also, you could paint an image map and apply it to Spotlight(s) as the Projection Image.

Oh yeah, I know what you mean. I've tried volumetrics, it works alright, but is a little slow. Image mapping is still unless you envelope it also, so I guess I'll try image maps.

a long time ago I created this effect... I made a single quad poly in modeler, loaded the object in layout, placed the camera so it covered the whole poly and then applied the underwater texture to my liking and rendered a b/w image sequence, then I loaded the image seq. back in layout and used it as a light gel. Worked quite well. Now I use the same image sequence whenever I need it 8-).
