Wanted to write a quick how too, took me some trial and error to get it working into a nice streamline process, so this is how i usually do it.

Build the models in rhino, if you have an autocad file then you can bring the 2d drawing into Rhino by exporting as dwg file from autocad into Rhino (it has to be saved as 2000 for Rhino to open it!!) Also create new drawing in Rhino using Inches as template, so everything is to scale with AutoCad dimensions.

In rhino extrude and make the walls and such. Do a save as or highlight what you want to export and "File/Export selected" save as 3ds or obj. I like 3ds keeps the file small/also if the object is mainly flat I export with smallest polygon mesh option, but if theres curves then you need to go higher. I usually have one 3ds file i reuse all the time while importing and exporting.

The whats great about this is that you can keep modeling in rhino and as long as you dont move any of orginal models in Rhino in relation to the 0,0,0 axis you can import to c4d in the exact place you modeled in rhino, just merge the 3ds file in C4d. Also the pivot point will be located in where the center 0,0,0 axis is in rhino so to move an object in c4d you have to find the axis. A great great plugin to use is centeraxis I have it keyboard shortcut in c4d so i can selected any object and make the pivot point in the middle of the object or anywhere else.

If anyone has another method pls share!

i have never used c4d but i basically only use rhino for architecture models. just a lil tip you can change the pivot point in rhino simply by selecting an object and ussing 'zoom selected'... i think that is one of the most helpful navigation tips i know of in rhino... and ussing ctrl+right click to zoom instead of the mousewheel, wheel way to bumpy!but show us what you can do in c4d im intrigued.

I do prefer the zoom target command, which is directly accessible from the standard toolbar (by default above the viewports) by right clicking on the icon with a rectangle and a magnifier on the lower left corner of the rectangle, near the center of the toolbar. This command regenerates the scene as well, so you can zoom really close to objects.

i'm used to use my mouse wheel for zoom, and 'zoom selected' icon.. that's enough imho... anyway, i've got no experience about exporting to cinema, i'm not the cinema user and owner, so that's the reason.. i'm using native CAD format .dxf for exporting my geometry to maya.. that's my SW combination, it's the best choice for me.. i'm absolutelly satisfied.. btw,i'm converting my nurbs geometry to mesh inside rhino, not only when i'm exporting... so i'm using tools - from nurbs to mesh option with all advanced features, than save in .3dm file (for later exporting usage) and than just simple 'export selected as .dxf' ..

Yea Zoom Selected has got to be one of the most usefull tool in Rhino, I have it short cut on keyboard probably the most used tool for me. Took me a while to see what it did, before the nasty zoom thing rhino does when it wont let you zoom any further almost made me throw my monitor out the window.

Alberto Blasi also know as thirdeye is an architecture student and an absolute genius and cd4. he was the guy that did the great 3d model of the asia kid in a tradition chinese hat not so long back.. ill find the link... http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=225468

so check out his site http://thirdeye.cgcommunity.com and try get onto him im sure he will be atleast able to point you in the right direction.

Here is an animation I did in C4d of my living room (4mb avi). It was modelled in rhino. Feel free to laugh at the flying insect perspective. It was my first shot at animation in cinema. Its suprisingly easy. Right click save as to view. The link doesnt open the movie directly for some reason...........sigh. (Edit:) Ok now it works go figure. www.ericlagman.com/Room_Animation.avi (http://www.ericlagman.com/Room_Animation.avi)

looks really good elagman, love the curtains. what kinda material/setting was used for it?

The material has a noise added to the color channel that runs up and down the length of the curtain. It gives the illusion with the dark areas that the curtain is "wavy" even though it is pretty much straight. It also has backlight on in the luminance channel. This works very well to fake sss on a single face surface that has no thickness.

Nice animation elagman, I liked also very much the wood reflections. My only critique is that I found the reflection on the TV screen being too much clean and deep.

Yeah the reflections on the tv also don't move with the camera you will notice. Its a mapped on graphic that I took with my digital camera. The lamp that is reflected in the tv is not the same lamps that are on the little side table. I got new lamps after I took the photo, and too lazy to update it. I would like to have had a quiqtime movie mapped to it and had a movie clip actually playing on the tv. That would have been sweet. Thanks for comments.

y dont u take a render of the sceen from where the tc is... then u can replace it with you digital image? i think u shoudl saturate it in like a transparent grey just to dull it down... i really enjoyed that tho.

it seems like this program has great potential...
