Rapunzel revamped? What began as a Shrek-like spoof on fairy tales, followed by a supposed turn into a tale about a squirrel and a bassett hound, the plot for Disney's Rapunzel Unbraided has supposedly been revamped once more. With a story more along the lines of such traditional Disney classics as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and The Little Mermaid,Rapunzel Unbraided, according to the IMDB (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0398286/plotsummary) via The Disney Database (http://www.disneydatabase.com/forums/showthread.php?t=364), now has this as its opening: "A woman and her husband lived beside a very beautiful garden, which belonged to a feared witch of great power. One day, the woman developed a strange craving for the rampion leaves in the garden, and her husband offered to sneak into the garden to gather some of the leaves for her. The witch caught him, and allowed him to gather as much rampion as he wanted, but on one condition: that he give the witch his wife's unborn daughter, Rapunzel". Please take this news with a grain of salt, for the time being.

Cool. I hope it's true, because when I originally heard of Rapunzel Unbraided, I was kinda hoping for a return to the fairytale musical, Beauty and the Beast style. So when I heard about it taking place in a fairytale/21st century mix world, I was a bit bummed.

Jack and the Beanstalk, Rumplestiltskin, Sleeping Beauty and many other fairy tales center around disproportionate exchanges or punishments. I don't think Rapunzel is any different. Heck, I would even point out that Rapunzel has elements of the story of Genesis built into it.
