Title: Psycho Girl And The Mutant Kangaroo
Name: Krishnamurti M. Costa
Country: United States
Software: Maya, Photoshop, ZBrush
My Master and Servant 3D entry.
This is just another day in the life of this twisted girl. She uses her big lollipop as instrument of command while his big servant, the Mutant Kangaroo steals food to feed the bastard :)
In the background you can see her most recent victim: a hot-dog/candies seller with his broken car. The Kangaroo is a good guy/girl/whatever and he looks back sorry for the poor guy. But she don't want to look back. She is the master! She just want to run away to eat all this food that fills the kangaroo's pouch :)
She already started, as you can see in the mustard in her fingers and mouth. She is the devil! Nothing can stop this ugly kid, a food hunter with no mercy! Be careful, be very careful when you walk alone in some park. The Psycho girl can be looking at your food and ready to hit you right in the face because of you chocolate bar!

Thanks a lot for your comments guys. I'm glad you liked :)
It's nice to see how the star system sucks, even more when someone is part of a challenge. I've been looking for some time in the past days to a lot of people entering in my thread just to cast 1 star (for a terrible work as this one and another I saw here, of course) without to leave any comment that can justify the vote, tell something that make me think that this work really suck. This system is just silly because silly people use it to put the works down and sometimes his own work up. I think most if not all the moderators agree about this and you can be sure that the number of stars does not define the works that go to the gallery for a long time. It's just the first "filter" to help us in some way. I hope the star system can be removed some day. The idea is great but will never work with people that don't know how to use it seriously. It's not about votes like 2, 3, 4 and some comments to help the artist to improve his/her work... it's about a lot of 1 that people cast for works (not as bad as mine here). Just continue enjoying this 'funny' system because some day it will probably going to be down, not the number of stars ;)
Cheers,
Kris

Hi Kris,
As i already said in your challengethread, Your work is great!!
It's nice to see how the star system sucks, even more when someone is part of a challenge.
Sounds familiar... I remember my GSO thread... changing the stars from 4 to 2 ...up and down. I think that these people... voting with one star are just jealous, and don´t see the all work behind this.
I think that´s the main problem in the 3D Section. have a look into the 2D section... over 50% have a *****Star voting. how is this possible?! (in the 3D area is only one pic with 5Stars!!) i think the 2D guys respect more the work at all and looks at it more objective.
Everyone want´s to be the best... (( and you are one of the best ;) )) thats maybe one of the reasons why so many people pushing the work down that way.
I terried a long time to put my challengework into this gallery, but i thought it would be nice to get some objective feedback. Now i see myself with the same (Starsystem) problem. But i don´t perturb on this. Let these people do what they want to do if it makes them happy! ;)
Nethertheless i like your work
Good luck to you!

really cool style. reminds me alot of Alice In Wonderland, kind of surreal and dark.
Exactly what I thought when I saw it. It even more directly reminds me of some of the artwork that came out of American McGee's Alice. Very similar styles.
Great work, Antropus. Excellent work with all of the characters. My one crit would be that I'm not feeling a whole lot of depth in that path that leads back into the scene. Actually, a lot of the background was feeling a little 2Dish at first glance. I'm guessing you painted most of that background, right?
Either way, it's hardly the focus of the piece anyway. Nice job.
And I'd have to agree about the star system. I'd suggest that maybe it would work better if people could only rate an image if they post in the thread, but I have a feeling that that would make more problems than it would solve. It's tricky to deal with the gallery forums here...

HI Antropus.I dont want to drag this issue about star voting, just hope U have read my
post in Vampeta thread,or in M&S discussion forum.
I know what I think about your stuff here and honestly, you could easely defend
heavy weight CG challenge title here. And Alice in wonderland is the thing that came to my mind when I first saw this work of yours.Thumbs up.
P.S.My only sin with star voting system is probabaly that I often forget to vote,I come, admire good work, leave opinion or somethin' and leave thread with smile and satisfaction and inspiration that certain artist gave me by showing his talent.
Seeya :)

Damir,
yep man. I saw your post there. The moderators and administrators have to take a look in this issue. Maybe we can find another way to filter the best works (gallery candidates) without to have to pay attention to the star rating system. A lot of times we moderators can find some images with less stars much better than some with 4-5 stars. The reason that I called this system silly is because the number of stars is no guarantee of CG choice award, believe me. Thanks for your suggestion man!

Hi there. When I see a new charactere from you, I just dont know what to say, Its so incredible, from the concept to the render (shader ), its excellent. To only point I dont really like is the final compasition. Im far from a master in that domain, but something on the picture is not right (not the charactere design , because they are so great).
Here maybe some explaination (sorry I didnt speak english very well so if its feeling rude im sorry ). I dont really get the scene and the action. The blue sky with the vegetation in the back, dont seem to fit with the action of the scene. Its like mixing a beauty landscape shot with cartoon.
The lightning on the charactere its more like a sunny day lighting then an evening lighting. Maybe more contrast with the shadow.
We dont feel that there is force in the two hand of the little girl. We dont dont feel that she actually holding something.
Also I dont feel that the mutant Kagaroo and the little girl are far form the guys. The first time I see it, i was thinking that the tail was right above the guys head.
But with all the talent youve got, I know you can do a lot better.
BTW, dont get me wrong, this is very focus critic, but in the overall, I really like you image, one of the best from the contest, every images has is flaw.
Like I say, for me its just a composition probleme, because the charactere are so great, so incredible detail! I was Speechless when I first saw the little girl ! Your charactere design inspire me a lot!.

In The overall i don't like this work, i think they're a lack of effort in the way you ressolve the perspective.
I like the faces of your Characters, in particular the face of the girl get my attention and reminds me an engraving of a giant head i saw in the book of "El ingenioso hidalgo Don Quijote de la Mancha".

i dont't know whether its usual to discuss the intention of a piece of art here as well
but besides its a brilliant work from the technical point i don't like the intention of the picture at least the way i understand it.
For me childhood or children are synonym for innocence and purity. Their way to behave is just a copy of behavior they find in the world they experience daily. Beat them and they will beat others and even you, yell at them and they will yell all the day, behave like a tyrann and they will do so the next moment.
From this point of view they are the perfect incorruptable mirror of their environment and especially their parents.
But the big difference is the motivation i think, they behave odd because theyre learning it, sucking anything up like little sponges from e.g. their parents - but they didnt intend anything bad with it - other then the parents e.g.
So looking at children as tyranns (or masters) is often a convenient way to put away your own faults,
in fact children dont have the power to be tyranns.
so far my crits :)
