Title: Master & Servant :: The Final Steps Of Kagekatsu
Name: Alexander Preuss
Country: Germany
Software: 3ds max, Photoshop

Hello Folks,
This image was done for the cgnetworks Master & Servant challenge.
I just wanted to show it to the rest of the people who donīt visit the challenge forum. ((and hope you all like it ;) ))
This time it was very hard for me... because i had never done any cg-characters before. I learnd a lot about rigging and skinning.
I knew that the characters are not perfect, but 4 my first cg-characters iīm a little satisfied ;) ;)
Thanks to everyone who supports me in the challenge.
Cheers Alex http://www.cgtalk.com/images/smilies/beerchug.gif

Hello everyone,

I want to thank you for your great feedback & support.

------------------------------------------------------

Something is realy funny... watching the thread "star" voting is pure fun 4 me.
A lot of people respect the artwork and the work behind it, but there are some of them who are continuous pushing them down with the starvoting system.
I had an eye on a few very great workīs coming from the M&S challenge.
These people worked realy hard... remember 2 Month everyday modeling/texturing etc... they all start with a great vote (****) but a few hours later they got only (**) ?!

Are these Pictures realy so terrible that someone needīs to vote it with just one star, i think that these people are just jaleous that their own work get not this kind of feedback and trying to pushing it up with pushing the others down (to bad)

Yesterday evening something very funny happend. Some poor guy went to all my threads (even the old ones) and voted them with just one star??!!

This here goes out to him:: Sorry that you donīt like my work, iīm relative new in this forum and tried everyday my best to improve my skills. Iīm very happy when someone like my work, and i like it also to get critique. Critique is alwayīs a way to see his own work with other eyes and to discover errors on your work you normaly not see.

But why arent you writing me whatīs wrong with all my pics ?! creeping arround and pushing the work down without leaving any comment is somehow cowardly!

Cheers!

Nethertheless.. Big thanks to everyone!
See you friends
Alex

Vampeta,
Good work man. Congrats for your hard work and another work for your portfolio
About the star system, I totally agree as you already know. I think this is just silly and coward to cast 1 star to the most part of the works (a lot of good works that deserves at least 3 stars IMHO). I can tell you that I have ways to check who cast the votes in all the threads but for now it's better to let this guys "play" and put all the works down to make them happy. I hope we can have this system removed soon because it's not useful anymore.

Kris

This I intended and will put to the M&S forum, and puting it here too.
And got to agree with U guys here.
I want to comment something I had opportunity to see more then once here at CG.
I think that it would be great if CG crew could give voting in 3D and 2D galleries change.
By change I mean,It should be visible to comunity who casts votes.Every vote casted for certain image should have somekind signature of person who voted.
This way all those jerks who go arround and ruin rating for good images without reason would be exposed to comunity.
So,when comunity cruisefyes few of those ass....'s nobody would think about underrating any image without thinking it trough and giving good
reason why.I dont understand how can one Lemog have 3 stars with his great entry, Antropus with his psycho girl too,and there is more of them...
Cos all of them one moment had like 4,5 stars, and next minute 3,3 or worse.
Regards friends.
Dont be discouraged Vampeta dude.Wremember all good things and comments from cg challenge and other contestants, your hard work payed of.
Seeya.

Hello Friends

Thanks for your kind words!

We all could give maybe sometimes the right person the wrong ammounts of stars, thatīs in everyones personal view... or mabe a mistake or a browser error or... whatever... ;)

But i think most of the people donīt look at the image and say: "Wow great i give 4 or 5 Stars!" i think they look at the stars the image already has and say "What 5 Stars... no thatīs to much for that!! should only have 2-3 Stars...!"

I think a good soulution is to hide the thread rating in the gallery, and show it only to the admins/moderators... so everyone could give an objective vote to the image... uninfluenced by the voting it already has..

Or maybe a system like the publik voting from the Challenges...
Letīs say at the end of the Month display a site with all the artwork submitted in this Month. And everyone could give just one vote (press the button only one time) And at the end the admins/moderators can simple pic the best ones (would properbly more than 100) and take their favorite ones that will go to the choice gallery.

Another solution would be to set the view number higher... at the moment i think a thread needs 3 votes to become visible to the others. If you set the number higher and it becomes visible after 10 votes for example this could prevent that someone push the vote down with just one star... because if the other 10 people voted for example with 4 stars this jerk could not destroy the vote with his one star voting ;) Just an Idea!

Nevermind Thanks a lot 4 watching and writing!
See ya

Cheers  Alex

Really liked it in the challenge and it's still looking good now. I could learn a thing or two about lighting from this pic. Now that I've had a fresh look at it Her clothes could use some extra detail. Not much mainly some shader work & some displacement maps for parts of her costume. Other than that it's tough to crit.

Still like the style :D
