like it nice work....need the old tires sorting but my guess is youre coming to that.
Why has the left front wing got jaggies along the top?
The bumper is fine modelling wise but i would change the dirt side of it looks to uniform.
Windows need a bit of work...but i love where youre going with it. In order to get the grime/dirt side what did you do? dirtynuts...or noise...both....or did you hand paint job them? any chance you could post the left door one?
But on the whole i like it alot....takes me back to the old days when I was a kid and my folks worked in Botswana...plenty of them about.
ps..door handle...i wanna be able to get in and drive this thing.

Tyres are next on the list, I need to find a real Series 1 to photograph. All the dirt at the moment it DirtyNuts (with high distance on the panels), which explains the uniform look, it doesn't work too well in most areas so I will create texture maps for the bodywork. The jaggies on the wing are the result of DNuts too, I think, as is the dodgy bumper. DNuts is fine for subtle dirt, but fails a bit on the large panels. I'm hoping to get pictures of a real one and map some actual dirt onto it.
I added textures much too early really, but I couldn't wait to see what it looked like :)
It's hard work doing this, as there are no decent plans or blueprints anywhere on the web that I can find, so most of the modelling is done from fuzzy photos :(
Oh yeah, door handles... :D

Damn i hate that....but I always do this then...upset myself cos it doesn't come up to standard...but it always help motivate ya. Its just to tempting when youve been slaving over a wireframe for hours....its that, I want it, and i want it now feeling.
Sorry bud i thought you had been concentration on this bit....so its was a bit unfair really....like i said i love the model. Any chance you can post a wireframe for me to look at? I'd also keep that blue colour reminds me of them a lot. keep at it matey.

it's cool, I spent three days solid on it this weekend and really wanted to show it off when I returned to work :)
I've attached a wireframe screen capture, NURBS on the left, resulting wireframe on the right. It's all NURBS except for one little bit of polygon underneath somewhere.
I think I've cracked how to do a decent looking tyre, thats the next stage. Glad you like the blue, too! :)

thanks for posting the wireframes always nice to see.
strange as it might seem i passed one like your model the other day parked up...slightly newer model...but the exact same colour blue/gray and white top...made me think about your model. Then I thought textures!!! but it was in really good shape...not rusty and knackered like a paris dakar reject. keep up the good work.
