Hey everybody, I have what seems like a simple question, but I can't figure out what I'd doing wrong.
I'm using Max 4.2 and doing the ping-pong table tut. It instructs to select the ping-pong table bitmap and it will wrap around the Material globe which you will use to apply to the table in the viewport. The problem is that when I select the bitmap, it doesn't wrap around anything. The image doesn't wrap around the globe, but is simply placed in front, like a rectangular sticker on a ball.

Can anyone help me with this.

Much appreciated.

You have to select a texture as a Diffuse Map in the Maps rollout.

here are some pictures that might better explain how i'm doing this.
-I click on the button next to the diffuse label OR
-like ShwayMan suggested, I tried to select the bitmap from the Maps rollout section for Diffuse.
-I click on the bitmap and proceed to select the image (pooltable.jpg) as specified in the tutorial.
-After I select the image, I get back to the map editor window and the map isn't wrapped around the sphere like it's supposed to, wtf?

Also, my image is slightly different from the one shown on the tutorial, but I don't think that matters much here.

Again, I'm using Max 4.2 and Win 2000 Pro.

Would really appreciate any help with this.
Thanks.

It really doesn't matter how it looks in the material editor...as long as the object you are applying the material to has a correct UVW Map...

Yeah, that picture confused me even more...
Can't u post a pic from the actual texture fauls on the object?
