Hi all,
I got tired of floating so I thought I'd post something. This is a painting I created in photoshop once I got my wacom. I would like to submit this for the next spectrum competition so comments/ suggestions are most welcome. I'll go back into it if anyone sees something really wrong with it. Thanks.

nice work, maybe you could add some reflectionto the glasses.

agreed, only problem with the scene at all is those glasses, not just the lenses but the frames as well. the glasses seem matte compared to everything else, they show little lighting or reflection, they seem solid opaque rather then semi transparent.

Well, the glasses could be video things so they don't have to be transparent, but the construction is a bit wierd. This area where the glasses are put together doesn't look right ... like the two pieces don't connect properly.

Oh ... forgot to mention that the image was WOW!! SUPER FANTASTIC!!! :D

Wow this is amazingly good work :)

You really want some hard crittics do you?
Okay, when I get really picky, I could come up with some VERY minor things.

The glasses have been mentioned.
His hair could have some more reflections to define the volume. There seems to be too much red in the white of his left eye. You could dim the street lights a bit, it is a bit conflicting with the gun.
Maybe make the buildings on the right a bit darker for more depth.

But you could also just leave it just this way. Nothing is bothering me. This is excellent work and one of the best things I have seen here in weeks. My own work is usually filled with a lot more and specially a lot bigger bugs.

Keep posting!!!
Cheers, jeroentje

Wow! Thanks for the feedback everyone I really appreciate it.
I've been so impressed by the work here and by so many digital painters that I just had to try it myself. Now that I'm comfortable with my tablet I'll be posting more stuff soon. The original size is 11312 x 4001 pixels at 400 dpi. So there's still alot of stupid detail not showing up.

Dirk_P_Ho: Yeah, well one of them is a staplegun gangster. Thought I'd changed it up enough so it wouldn't look like a staple gun but oh well.

Kaiskai: No the glasses aren't suppose to be semi transparent at all. More like a video screen with audio ear muff things for sound.

Kirt: Exactly right. I never realized the connection problem on the glasses. Good looking. easily correctable.

jeroentje: One of the best things you've seen here in weeks. Thanks man I'm honored.

Frye: Only thing about adding a reflective surface that would reflect anything in front of the man, even if just a blurry image is that I wanted the man as a whole to be the strongest aspect of the piece. Adding reflection breaks up that whole into smaller views and takes away from the expression and gesture which are the real focus. If it were a larger portrait shot with nothing else but the head and shoulders then I would go nuts with some reflection. Thanks for replying!
