If you got any comments, questions or suggestions id be glad to hear em! Also quick max question can max only support 1 diffuse bitmap per material? So if u wanted to blend textures you'd have to do it in Photoshop or compsoite 2 materials together?

Also if anyone has any examples/tutorials of adding detail when painting UV maps could you please let me know the link?=)

those are impressive low poly models but whats up with the drawing :)

You can have as many submaps as you want.
You can add a Mix or Mask or Composite or RGB Multiply or whatever map you want to the Diffuse channel, then add sub-maps to its slots to mix/blend/multiply etc. The resulting tree can be as deep as you want.

If you are using max 5, you could also download TreeMatoGraph and do it visually using a node graph...

Spline the drawings just a concept sketch of what i was planning to model.
