If you have an intel graphics card then just be happy you can even boot your computer, they're crap and highly unlikely to run Maya.
Sounds like you have a nice spyware-fest on your machine. Dowload, install and run:
Adaware (http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Personal-Edition/3000-8022_4-10045910.html?part=dl-ad-aware&subj=dl&tag=top5)
Spybot (http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-Destroy/3000-8022_4-10289035.html?tag=lst-0-1)
AVG (http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/lng/us/tpl/v5)
MS Thingy (http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx)

Heh, that's what they always say. Computers, just like cars, need maintenance. Tune it up every once and a while and make sure it's clean. Clean up as in removing spyware/adware as already suggested.
BTW, video memory is less significant to a 3D app such as Maya. What matters more is the raw polygon crunching and OpenGL performance, which the Intel graphics chip is sub par at.

Well adaware doesn't catch everything that is why he linked to more than it.
