View Full Version : concept design--ocean elf
Apipe 10-12-2002, 05:39 PM Hi all.
The sci-fi style's ocean elf has gills on her long body and some parasites on her head.the thruster she's wearing can help her swimming like a torpedo.
Actually it's my frist colorful concept design(i'm using photoshop, painter and a small wacom).
critiques and comments are very welcome.
thx a lot

I think it looks great, although I can't help being reminded of Legend of Zelda's Zoras. But maybe that is a coincidental resemblance, I'm not accusing you of plagiarism or anything! Besides, it's only a passing resemblance. :)
I like how she fades into the background, it gives the whole pic a better sense of unity. Other than that, wouldn't all the metal equipment, not counting the thruster, slow her down while she was moving under water? I don't really know her background, so maybe I shouldn't comment on that. It's sci-fi after all, maybe it's an ultra-light alloy.
Nevertheless, good work.
I'll just shut up now.

That is really cool.
Great design. Isn't an ocean elf called a merfolk?

Looks very good...
The only thing that comes to mind at the moment is the clothing, which is as I'm seeing it at the moment covering her gills. Wouldn't that make it a bit hard to "breath"?
Then again inhaling goes through the mouth and exhaling through the gills which would make the clothing move out of the way... hmmm... :hmm:
Have I said that I like this picture a lot... :D

I think this is great except for the gill placement. I think they would be better off under her jawline. They didn't just pop-up on fish like that for no reason. The water is at it's freshest and most oxygenated as soon as it enters the mouth. Even a Lungfish has gills behind the jawline.
Also the shoulder gear doesnt look like it's going to stay on for too long either. You might want to add a strap or two going under the armpit.
I really like the thrust pose in the hips, and the color selection. She definately looks like she is ocean going.
Nice work:thumbsup:
