View Full Version : raytrace materials not working right
SafeZone 05-23-2005, 05:34 AM what does it mean when your raytraced materials look like this in the material editor?
(using 3dsmax 7.0)

Not sure. Could you post an example file?

well, I "guess" the materials are working okay (I'm somewhat new at this), I just thought they looked strange in the material editor with that big ugly white band around them
are they sposed to look like that?

you mean like one of my .max scene files?

Well, your material is refracting, so you're seeing a refraction of something, it could be many things really, it might be the refraction of your highlight, it could be that your ior is too low (looks like you have an ior of 1, glass would be somewhere closer to 1.3-1.5). That's why I asked for an example file. But if your scene is fine, then you're probably all set.
