I'm doing a background for a scene im working on and have the lighting set up the way i like it using the maya software renderer, but for a touch more realism i wanted to use Final Gather and mental ray for more realistic rendering of not only the characters/architecture in the scene, but also for the background which is set in the mountains in winter...
now I have been teaching myself maya for the last month or so, so please forgive any stupid questions...
the problem i'm having is the illumination of a valley in the distance-it's WAY too bright for the effect im trying to create. I've tried adjusting the intensity of all the lights in the scene, including the environmental fog i had set up while using the maya software renderer, even dropping them to 0 intensity, but i still have too much illumination in that area.
Any help or suggestions? Thank you in advance, Rob
included are the 2 scene testrenders, 1 with just a bit of intensity to the lights and the second with no intensity. Also if it would help with the evaluation of the problem what im doing is using a simple nurbs plane and applying a displacement map to get the "mountain" look
