Currently working on this character animation/dialogue piece. I'm using a voice recording taken off the Incredibles DVD, from one of the miscellaneous heroes on the NSA files (check it out if you haven't already). I've only done up to the 2nd line of the dialogue. Whole audio clip is about a min and a half long so I'm probably gonna take awhile for this. I'd appreciate critiques/comments on the motions and acting. Fire away!

Hee hee, that's so funny! I had just been thinking of doing the same thing!
Hee hee!
This is lookin' great! You really put a lot of insecurity in him, in all the hand and eye movements especially, and it looks great!

Question for you:

How did you rip the audio off of the DVD? It sounds really nice and clear....

Can't wait to see more.

hey there Rebooted,

Thanks for the comments! The dialogue gets funnier towards the middle and end...can't wait to get to that part.

Anyway what I do for the audio is just pop the dvd in and play, then record with soundforge. You can record at any quality you want then edit later. It's not shareware though so you gotta buy it. Actually, the windows sound recorder might be able to do it?

hey there everyone,

Here's a lil update of the animation i'm working on.
Got the body animation pretty much how I want it. Left with the facials and lip synch.
Please feel free to critique the poses and choice of acting! Thanks!

I think you can use more interesting gesture in it. Currently the right hand is doing the same as the left as well as in a very common gesturing pose.

This is just from the top of my head. Why don't you change the pose of the right hand so that the middle finger and the thumb touches when he gets to the word "atomic" to imply something small. At that point, you will probably rotate the other fingers (i.e. index, ring and pinky) outwards to make that pose more visually obvious, but don't over do it.

When you get to the word "density", you can push the middle finger and thumb together more as if you are squashing something using you middle finger and thumb. Make this VERY subtle.

Then as soon as you get to the word "manipulation", you then can slide the middle finger and the thumb against (or across?) each other slightly as if there you are rolling (i.e. manipulating) a marble inbetween it. I will still keep the finger and thumb in contact and the motion subtle. You'll probably release the pressure from the last pose here as well.

These are just some things I can think so far. I might be wrong but I hope this helps. It's looking good so far. Keep up with the good work.

Thanks for the critique skull. I totally agree about the hands having similiar gestures but I didn't have any ideas about how to vary them. Will try out your suggestions. I'm hoping to get different and more expressive gestures when i get to other parts of the dialogue. Thanks again!
