i sitll have an amiga 1200... and theoretically i own an amiga 500 somewhere... i just wish i'd been able to afford lightwave when i had those machines... but i think it's base machine was either the 1000 or the 4000... what the hell did it run on? what was toaster based on? proton? someone?

well, i still use an old Compaq system that was originally bare bones, 166 Mhz (now 233 Mhz), 32 MB SDRAM (now 96 MB), 2.4 GB HDD, generic video card w/ 2 MB video RAM (now a different generic w/ 4 MB).

but that might not really count because i use LW on something much, much better and newer.

Celeron333MHz OC@419MHz,
196Mb Ram,
32Mb Matrox G400 Dualhead

it was the perfect machine... then they discovered radiosity...

I have a 486/dx100 as well. Wondrously it runs at about 66 mhz ;)

Sadly enough, I used to play Quake on that religiously, happy with my 4 fps.

If only the old Apple IIe was still around here. California Games... ahhhh :D

Uhm... I'm not sure if I'm entitled to join, but I've already ordered my copy of LW, so...

I own a 386 (I won't even start guessing the MHz's of it :D) that's running linux at the moment, and I'm hoping to make it a firewall or a router in the future :)

Edit: Nice... 500 posts...

I'm still using:

P3 500E (oc to 666)
384 MB RAM
32 MB GeForce 1

Dreaming of dual athlons. When I purchased LW 5.0, I ran it on:

Cyrix P120 (100Mhz, with fpu about like a 486)
16 MB RAM
1 MB (yes, ONE) Trident 9680

I want to say the raytrace scene rendered in like 3 hours. Even though this was 96, it's obvious I didn't know anything about hardware!

Everything I do at home is on a p3-700 768mb-ram gf2mx system.

I used to run LW 6.5 on a mac g3 300(mhz), now I still occasionaly run LW 7.5 on my iMac 400(mhz), and that handles it just fine :)

I think the original Toaster was based on the Amiga 2000. Actually it's probably what sold a majority of 2000s stateside! I remember lusting after a Toaster. Alas, at the time it was NTSC only. And also too expensive for an 11 year old kid who just wanted to make things like Pixar did! :)

BTW, I still have my A1200 with 10Mb of RAM and an '030 upgrade. I was thrilled to have an 80Mb hard drive! Ahh, those were the days!

Looking to upgrade soon from my old PIII 800. Anything with a gig of ram and an ATI 9700pro!
