View Full Version : HELP! can't move objects or create spline
pcaston 05-20-2005, 10:15 PM Using: Cinema 4D Release 8
Problem: When I try to move, rotate, or manipulate an object at all with the mouse, it simply tries to select the object. And I can't click to create spline points, it just tries to select. I tried re-installing, but it had no effect. I reset all preference and still no help. I'm considering uninstalling, removing it from the registry manually, and deleting the folder manually, to reset it completely. Is there perhaps something less drastic I could do?
Thank you very much,
-Philippe

How about a full screen grab so we can see what modes you're in. e.g. model tool and point mode.

I have a similar problem from time to time, a tool will stay stuck.
Most of the time, it will stay stuck on the move tool. I can't select anymore, or rotate/scale or anything, not even right-click to call the context menu, it just keeps moving stuff.
The axis restrictions don't work either.
This is an OpenGL issue I think, and it is not solved until I restart the computer.
I wonder if the USB connection could cause that a tool gets stuck like that, and I've had the problem on two different computers, on different C4D versions (since version 8), using a Quadro card each time (Quadro4 750XGL and QuadroFX 1400).
Never been able to pinpoint or solve the problem, that's my curse.
It happens more often whenever I work on big scenes, and when I switch applications.

Hello,
It seems it's as you say, it just got stuck on that tool for awhile but it's seemed to resolve itself. I don't know what caused it and I'm not sure how it righted itself, it must be a glitch that occasionally occurs, as you said.
Thank you for you time,
-Philippe
