ok, i have a character head and im linking the eyeballs to the head, and when i link them, the eyeballs get squashed like i put a non-uniform scale in the x-direction.
anybody come across this before?
do i need to collapse my stacks or something?
I'll post an image shortly.

Thanks.

I'd say you probably scaled your head on the top (as opposed to sub-object) level. Before linking try selecting your head and going to the Hierarchy tab of the command panel, Pivot button and click Scale button in Adjust Transform to reset scale.

You Rock!
thank you...that one had me stumped...i guess at some point i did scale it from the top of the stack.

here's my character if you want to see him...He's for a school project.

Not bad. Most obvious problem is with his hair in the middle. Earlobes may need to be more rounded and the bridge of the nose less uniform. But he has this dorky character to him, good potential.

thanks...yeah i just fixed the ears. the hair is a texturing issue...don't need to worry about that yet.
i'll work on the nose some too.
maybe i'll post this in the WIP instead of cluttering the Max board.
thanks for the quick feedback.

Have you tried the "Reset Xform" utility? It converts the transforms on the object into an XForm modifier, which stops any previous transforms on an object being inherited when a child is linked to it?
