View Full Version : Rendering particles
The Commander 02-16-2002, 03:21 AM I am trying to render out 'tube particles', but they just won't appear! I have applied a texture to them (a simple blinn), but that hasn't helped. I just don't know what to do.
Someone (or most of you) probably knows what I'm doing wrong, could you help me please?
Thanks in advance.

are you rendering them with the batch render? because tube particles only appear in software rendering.

Yep, it's the software renderer I am using. It seems bizzare that they don't appear.

oohh you need to go in Hardware render to see your particules passes
go to the first key (when the particules Run ) press Test render (The midle Icon ). you should see the Particules rendered Just for that Key ... if you want all the Clip go to Render---> Attributes.
edit your sequence there
For Software Render
>>>NO Particules will Be displayed ON screen Without A light Pointing on Them ( you can make a Light Set just for it !!! )<<<<
... i know there is many many options there
when you model something in maya, any object you use that is displayed on screen you use your Opengl graphic card, which support shading in real time
when you work with maya render (render-->render view) you are executing a totally different module out of the box that will make shadows, reflection, raytrace blah blah.
software redering is the final word but you need the combination of the 2 and a composition software like Adobe after effect because the particules are emitted independetly from your scene ... read the readme for more info as im still studying this myself ...
Maya is cruel sometimes

yes i just checked and the book say that you need a light in the direction of the clouds (s\w) to see them once rendered in the software renderview ..
think thats your only problem ... it should be diplayed :)

You'll see it on tuesday 'Dragonius', unless I pop up tomorrow - I just did it, yey!!!
It turns out I bodged it up. It needed a Volumetric material, and I had given it a Blinn. I noticed the error bar went purple and told me after each render.
Silly me. Thanks for you (very) quick response everbody!
