Is there anything you can see that my non-tech head can't from the attached image?

I have 2 computers and they are both giving me the following error when I render the file at above 320x420px using Maya MR. Anything larger and MR crashes midway.

I have tried rendering with Maya closed, tried with different BSP settings in render globals window.

Computer A- Has only 512Mb of 333 Mhz RAM. Cpu- Intel centrino M 1600Mhz Dell M60 Workstation (apparently equivalent to desktop 1.8-2.4 Ghz P4 depending on who you believe).

Computer B - Has 1.2 Gb of 266 Mhz RAM_AMD XP 2000/1600Mhz

Both have 7200rpm HD.

This is the read out from Computer B 1-2 seconds after the crash.

** Is this error due to lack of memory or something completely different?

** It's obvious that 512Mb is not enough for Maya on Computer A but would it be more benefitial if I add a 1x1GB stick to computer A or B?
Am I right in assuming that it better to use 1.5GB 333 Mhz RAM than 2GB of 266 MHZ RAM when it comes to Maya MR rendering?

I am close to buying a dual AMD system but forcing myself to wait couple of months for things to settle down with the 64bit Window OS and 64bit AMD cpu's.

Thanks for your time. Please answer as I need to render and order some RAM based on your advice.

Phewww! One of the slider in MR had moved without my knowledge and that was causing the crash on both systems. Man I feel so happy! How did I not see it before! Sometimes it's better to walk away from the computer insted of hitting your head against it constantly ;-)

I ordered extra 1x1GB ram anyway ;-)

Now I can wait couple of months and order a dual opertone system :-)

Happy ending.

in mental ray in the memory options you can actually set how much memory mental ray can use...
