Hi, does anyone know how to make a transparent non-geometric object to have the look of volumne? Even better to be able to change color with the thickness like the example below?

Thanks!

Hey,

Yeah there are two ways I know of doing it using raytrace materials. One is to have the color option on in the advanced transparencies rollout section. This option gives the perception of the object as having density within a volume like colored glass where thicker parts are darker in color whereas thinner sections are lightet. Just make sure the object is transparent. Another similar option in that same rollout is Fog, which mimicks the appearance of things like smoke filling a volume or wax like substance.
