Hi,

I have a (hopefully) quick question about AEX. What I want to do is have two layers containing movies(quicktimeclips) and have the top movie have a pattern of holes in it so that you can see the bottom layer thourgh the top layer(Am I making sense?).
I basically need a way to add a alpha channel to an opaque layer. I would like to do it using a greytone image, just like you would use if in photoshop to give an image an alpha channel. I can't use masks, because the pattern is just too complex.

So does anyone of you know how to add an alpha channel to a layer or another method of doing what I want?

I'll explain it one more time if it's still not clear to you what I want:

Theoretical sideview schematic:

Layer 2 _________ ____ ___ _________ _________
Layer 1 ____________________________________________

Thanks in advance.

hi,
i'm not sure about my answer but i make a try :)
put your greytone layer (wich will be your alpha source) over the layer you want to have holes in it, and go to "trkmat" options of your layer 2 (in timeline / toggle with F4) and select : luma matte "your greytone layer"
was it that ?
