Hey guys,

I know that more than likely im going to get flamed off the board - but i place this question anyways.

I have been writing an outline for a web-comic for quite some time. Ive been looking for a viable medium to create this with only to discover i cant draw to save my life. So i turned to 3d. Ive been kitbashing models from Starfleet Command for quite some time, and while im good at kitbashing, and im alright at structures, ive been trying at humanoids, and i suck. Ive been trying to read on Tutorials, and i just cant seem to get it.

So, im looking for an androgonous model that i might use as a template for characters and aliens in my webcomic.
- realistic proportions
- a poly-count under 12k
- all five fingers (no blob for a hand like games do)
- Sphere eyeballs that are seperate from the rest of the body
- The insides of a mouth (including teeth)
- The capacity to be easilt morphed into seperate characters.

It doesnt need to be rigged - i can do that on my own, no problem.

Thanks,
~FoaS

Thanks for the quick reply - kinda suprised me to be honest.

I just downloaded all 6 packs, and while they are nice models, (i especially like the more alien ones) i dont think they would serve as good templates.

Im looking more along the lines of "blank" people, not premade characters.

again, though, thanks.

Go buy poser.

You can also try turbosquid.com and see what they have.

I have poser, the models' polycounts are in the 200ks.

been to turbosquid. There are only two models for what im lookin for, one isnt proportionate, and the other isnt even assembled.

Hi Furyofaseraph, I don't think you will find your lowpoly characters. But I can think of a quick fix.

Take a Poser model, and draw your own spline cage (using vertex snapping) on that model. Start with the most important features and then decide how high or low res you want it to be.

Then you have to unwrap your model (which can be difficult if you've never done it). Once done use the Mankua Kaldera plugin to 'rip off' the texture from the original Poser model and put it on your low poly version.

I know this is some work, but you don't have to design from scratch and you don't have to create textures. How about that?

Hey, i like the sound of that one. seems pretty straight forward. Time consuming, but unambiguous.

thanks

Just tell me if you need any help, I've done these steps a couple of times already. I brought down a Poser model from 200K to 5K and 12K. To create nice materials I would suggest to bake textures with advanced lighting and global illumination into the high res model and then use Kaldera to create the textures for the low res models.
