I'm new to After Effects, working on a project where I have to pretty much trace a laser pointer. boooring, anyway I have created a pointer dot and I'm using motion sketch to follow the movement of the original poiner with my own layer pointer.

Now there are times when the laser pointer is turned off and turned back on for fractions of seconds in order to move to different areas of the projection. When I replicate the motion my pointer does a noticeable drag across screen. (as seen below by the blue arrow)

I am trying to avoid finding the few moments where it is dragged and I'd hide it by lowering the opacity to 0% , would that even work? can anyone think of another option?

thanks for your help

You can put a hold on the keyframe by right clicking on it and selecting hold keyframe. Then go to the spot you want to animate again and set another key in the new position you can do the same with opacity set a key and put a hold on it and then when it disappears set a 0 opacity key with a hold until it reappears
