While I was looking around for a veneer supplier for my spitfire I found this website;
http://www.veneerselector.com , if you go into the veneer selector section you can prepare a swatch of high resolution previews of the finish on dozens of different types of polished wood veneers, I have found these invaluable in interior renders for furniture as once you have the venner on the swatch you can simply save the image as a file to import as a texture.
