everybody has been busy and doing this at the same time, who cares about E3,that has nothin to do with it.Thats a load of crap, sorry!Really uncool and unfair to others here.If this goes through thats a royal disaster to this challenge.Really a load of BS.
Let me quess now,a guy that works with you at Blur a mod here is going to come in and justify this.Haha, you'll see it'll happen.Anyways i think it's off,and unfair,my opinion stands.
Did nt have a chance to post until today? yah right! But you could work on it,you had time for that! What if everyone did what you are doing?Huh? it's wrong and against everything thiese challenge are about.Again I think its wrong, but hey thats me,my opinion.Just un fair to others.

Hi all,
I've been called in to settle this matter.
This has never happened before as most artists have given a lengthy lead-time to complete their work. Because of this, our rules have not required a specific lead time for artists to enter. If Laurent does complete his work and submit it, it will go through for judging. Note, however, that as with all previous Challenges, judging criteria will include community interaction, which will mean that this particular entry will suffer in that criteria and may lose out to other works where the contestant has made an effort to participate in community interaction.
In future, we will instill a cutoff date for artists to enter the Challenge and start posting. In this particular instance, however, we will allow this entry if Laurent is able to complete it and submit it within the timeframe given.
Would appreciate it if further flaming towards Laurent please stop. The point has been made clearly already and we can only change the rules for the next Challenge.
Best regards,
Leonard

Hey alsome work man, sorry to hear about all the flame, i think it's great, alsome style and very detailed. I like it a lot.
Well you've been really fast from the modeling part to the finalization
But I remember you didn't start recently (this ****er sit next to me) for the modeling and research. The only mistake Laurent did was to not post his work early enough on the forum.
Well anyway
The lighting is great, but still the composition bothers me, you need to unflat it. Maybe a subtle background suggested in the darkness. Something that pull the sight to the humanoid. Actually we intend to look to the bug more. It you don't have any time to make the Bg then maybe you can tweak the lights just a tad to make us look at him first. Also the Helmet it really borderline on top. Give it a little bit more space.
The last thing would be that on your sketch he's looking a lot more excited, his head posing, his ecstatical expression are missing on the last render...

I think this is definitely professional level work. I also know that when I get inspired and start to model etc. I have neclected sending wips as that would only break my concentration. Once your flying there is no sense to take a break for just to give WIP information:) Rock on!

This is wonderful- full of texture & atmosphere. I'd love to see more of your textures, like an unlit texture render or some of the texturemaps (or indeed a tutorial- hope you win so you get to make a 'making of' article!). Only crit is the man's hand could be better modelled by the lighting, so maybe do another pass with a light underneath & to the left, or an orangish glow coming from the bugs' tail? ps. are the zbrushed details rendered through brazil as bumps or 3d displacements?

l'éclairage de ta scéne est dément! et ton travail est trés fin. bravo...
I didnt do any unwrapUVs so it's all tiles of textures with dirty planar or box maping :))
exepte for th BG and cables from his eyes but again nothing crazy.. so that's mean no displace or normals map for his head,so...hehe (shame on me)....I just imported the full subdivided mesh from ZBrush.the rest of the scene is realy light ..so it's ok.

Brilliant. I still reckon it'd look good with a little more light to define the outlines of the 2 curled fingers. Btw, what's your concept/description for this?
