Position Title: modeler / rigger / 3D generalist
Location: New York City
Status: Full time / term position

Job Description:
Our museum is expanding it's media / exhibition department to create more powerful 3D content.

We are looking for a well-rounded 3D artist specializing in modeling and rigging, to work with our lead animator and exhibition staff of designers and media developers, in the creation of high quality animation for museum exhibits and scientific theater.

The person hired for this position will need to be a team player, and will be working closely with scientists as well as a variety of design staff to create high quality animation. In some cases, this animation will be incorporated into unique interactive installations.

*3D animation for interactive design is a new and emerging feild. You do not need interactive experiance to be consitered for this position. Ample research, development, and adjustment time will be provided.

Job Qualifications:
+ Bachelors Degree in computer animation or equivalent work experience
+ Must be eligible for work in the United States and willing to self relocate to New York City

+ Full knowledge of Maya 6.0 or higher for modeling and rigging.
+ Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Adobe After Effects.
+ Knowledge of dynamics, fluid effects and/or mel scripting is a plus.
+ Macromedia Flash is a plus.
+ Experience or strong interest in scientific studies is a must.

+ This cannot be stressed enough, you must be able to work creatively as a member of a team.
+ You must be able to adapt to a unique and creative environment where bringing ideas to the table is a standard part of the job.

Thank you all for your speedy responses! We will continue accepting reels until June 6th.
To answer a few basic questions:

-employment includes a full package of health benefits

to be more specific, our interactive installations make use of ground breaking, cutting edge technology- some of which have not even been released for commercial use yet. We are constantly researching and developing new ways to incorporate high quality animation and other media into interactive designs that go far beyond the conventional screen. We have tools, equipment, and resources available that enable us to create exhibits like no one else. But most importantly, we have an incredible work environment where every single member of our team is involved in the creative process from the beginning concept to the final installation.
