View Full Version : Ludicrous Dialogue
DougWilson83 05-16-2005, 03:30 PM Hey,
I'm doing a short dialogue piece for a possible freelance job...... the characters have no arms or legs so the focus is on expression. I'm not sure I put enough time into planning the actions as I pretty much animated it straight ahead, but you can't do much posing without arms and legs.
Please feel free to rip it apart.... I'm always open to suggestions.

i think that planning would have helped you a lot because i personally dont see a lot of contrast in your expressions which makes them blend together too much.. like when the egg says 'ludicrous speed'.. it feels like an everyday speed and doesnt help in delivering the punchline that it seems it should be...

The two main egg shapes could use some squash and stretch, I didn't really see any of this until the the "gasp".
How about some more mouth shapes. Look at the mouth shapes (and the eye shapes for that matter) on this page as an example.

Those are all fun and still very simple shapes, though some use a tongue, can you add a tongue to your guys?

Cheers guys,
I'll take a look at these problems on monday..... a few people have commented on the lack of expression in the "ludicrous speed" bit. I'll try to add a bit more squash and stretch on the jumping bit and possibly elsewhere too. And I think I might try making a better mouth for the characters, with teeth and a tongue.
Thanks for the crits.
Updates coming soon.

Here's an update......
refined the lip-sync, pushed the expressions, changed the lighting, added more squash and stretch.
