Hi.
Navigating and animating in a 3D- scene is a bit hard in AE, especially if you are used to work with a 3D- app like Maya.
But it would be much easier/ faster, if there would be hotkeys for the cameratools (pan, zoom, track) and if you could frame an area so that the point of interest changes accordingly.
If anybody knows about that, that wouldbe cool.

regards,
moyo

Edit: Okay, i am sorry.
Clicking C several times toogles between the tools. Not perfect, but okay.
But i am still stuck with the point of interest...

You could use a Null or Dummy-Solid and then pick-whip the POI to its position. This will be more like targeting in a real 3D prog. Other than that you could press Ctrl+Alt+O with the camera selected and turn it into a normal Camera with keyframed rotations or path alignment rather than target constraint. BTW, have you read the manual? some of your questions are rather basic and are explained there (if not too well at all)?

Thx, i admit i went rather quick thrpogh the docs( i had to).
But while these are basic questions, i still cant see any true answers to them, just workarounds.
But it is just me, missing the stuff from "my" maya. :bounce:
I think i`ll get used to ae-3D more and more

thx

If you right click on the camera layer and under transform>autoOrient, choose off. that will get rid of the point of interest.
