View Full Version : Styletest
Not much to say about this piece...the background (incl. clouds) is just a sketch at the moment, and will be 3d rendered later...this picture is originally a test to find a comic/paperstyle that is fast and easy to produce, in which i want to illustrate a picturebook later..
..im really not satisfied with the grass lighting yet -maybe i should replace it with a more golden grainfield.

Hey man that is looking really nice. The colours are bold yet the whole image has a very soft overall look. Obviously if you look closely you can tell all the foliage and grass are just mapped on flat plains, but i still reckon it is a great style.

Very nice colours and warm atmosphere indeed.
Hey thanks...
I did used flat planes on purpose this time, to reach that childish paperlook...but Im not totally happy with it yet. I guess I have to try it on some more different motives (like different objects and characters), to find out the right styleelements..

Looks really nice - its a great style. I can see a little too much repetition in the grass shapes though, but its a minor thing. Nice colours and i like the way youve done the tree - hows about some wireframes of it?

Hey there. I like the style of the tree, and how the leaf drapes down forming a sphere-like shape. Great style for trees, defining shape with deformed planes, instead of letting the texture on the planes tell the form, which happens so often with planar trees.
Btw. I looks like theres some planes "sticking up" behind the top of the tree? is that intensional?
Will you use the same teqnique on the clouds as the leafs on the tree? That would give a cool look I think.
Hey...thanks alot!
Havent been around for quite a while...got stuck in other projects.
But soon i should be abled to post a few other, more advanced pix in a similar style...
here the wireframes...nothing spectacular (but thats what i aimed for)
@aghill: the plane look is on purpose, but not yet final (i think i should make it look a bit more apparent....clouds in this style are a good idea...i will try this next)
