german shortcuts in english AE?

how can I use german AE shortcuts (with german keyboard layout installed)
in an english version of AE?

You can't. aeres1.german must be in you Support-Files directory and that only happens if you install the German version. AE won't interpret special characters properly if it's not there (not just for shortcuts), so I'd advise against not using a "germanized" version on a German system anyways. The same goes for the keyboard shortcut config in your user directory which of course you can change manually, but it's quite cumbersome.

if you got trouble cos the german layout doesnt fit the concept of premiere (for example the "/" is pretty well reachable on english keyboards while i tend to use the one on the numpad because the german shift+7 one is kinda far off) then you could try switching your country-setting in windows. at least in WinXP there's a fast switch button available.
of course that still doesnt paint the english layout on your keyboard....
at www.alternate.de (http://www.alternate.de) they got a bunch of keyboards, also english layouted ones (french, dutch and several others too)

and much cheaper than special premiere keyboards let alone a new version of premiere too! ;-)

You cold also change the hotkeys in the preferences file of after effects

It's in something like that : C:\Document and settings\"user"\Application data\after effects 6.5\
