View Full Version : Saving Layout Preferences?

Hi,
I have tried what it says in the New User Sticky thread, but am not getting what I want.

I am use to my view layout as a 4 pane window with Upper Right as Perspective, UpperLeft as top, Bottom Left as Front and Bottom Right as Right.

I have created my views as described above and choose "Save as startup Layout". However, if I close and reopen, it is back to a default full screen Perspective. If I toggle to 4 view, then it is back to the 4 view default layout for C4D.

I have also tried the Save Layout at program end in preferences and this does not work either.

Same thing if I use "Save Layout As".

Nothing works.

However, if I create a model in my arranged prefered layout and save it and then close it, then it will be that way when I open that model again. It will not be that way though if I just open a fresh C4D with no model.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

if you set up a blank scene just the way you want it, just save it as 'new.c4d' in your c4d directory. it will then be used as a template for all new documents.

Is this accurate? What folder would this go in exactly?
Thanks in advance!

Yep, that's right. Save it to the root folder of your Cinema directory (the one with the Cinema .exe in it).

Thanks! I thought I was doing something wrong, but I'm locked out of changing anything in that folder because of admin rights. Have to talk to the IT guy.
