View Full Version : Lots of crits needed! [ image heavy ]
old_man_funk 05-13-2005, 06:45 AM I've got an interview for a college course next week and I need a portfolio. Nothing special, just a small sample to give them an idea of what level I'm working at and what interests me etc etc. Here's some of my work, it'd be a great help if any of you could give me some crits so I can improve these pieces.

I'd say your texturing skills are your strong point, and your anatomy your weak point.
I really like the first 2...lot of bright colors in the first one, and the second's just in style right now with the movie out. your 2d peices need work, for some reason their faces just don't look right..

For the GTA style pieces did you just flip that guys head over? Looks very suspect because of it...
Really nice texture work going on here, but perhaps a little overly saturated?
Good luck with the college interview!
Cheers,
Nathan.
Firstly good luck with ur interview, and try 2injoy it. if u like doin this type of work then
there should be no reason to freak out at the interview, just talk about ur piecies as u flip
through ur folio.. ur texturing is ur strong point as said by confracto, and ur models arent to
bad, but there is room 4 improvment.. but dont just have 3d stuf in the folio, colleges love to see that u can work in 2d first, and then b able to turn it into a 3d model..

The 2D pieces were done a while ago without a tablet, but yeh you're right about the faces. I might redo them, or might try some new ones...

Yeh I did just flip the head :O
As for the overly saturated textures, I was planning on doing a version of that guy with some overlays to give it a bit of a realistic look... if I do then I'll desaturate it a bit :D

They're not mine :P I just did the skins and 2D artwork.
Thanks for the words guys, they helped boost my confidence. I'll be updating this thread as I rush through some work within the next few days trying to add more :D
