View Full Version : Character: Agent 1731
Mathorne 05-12-2005, 08:26 PM I salute ye lads and lasses! First time posting in here.
Just finished this model. The head was initially made for the 128-thread on CG Chat 'bout half a year ago and I thought it would be fun to give him a body. It's standing at 1085 triangles and utilizes a 256*256 texture for the head and a 512*512 for the body.

I really like the style of the character, the texture is really good as well, can't really find anything to crit on other than the little wrinkle under the ear on the head texture, I think if that is left out it would look a lot better. I could be wrong but it's hard to tell from the first render. But like I said, good texturing and nice model. Are you planning on rigging this? A good pose always makes a model more intresting to look at.

i love the stylised look ... the only comment i can give is perhaps to put a sort of texture on the coat the paint looks too smooth .

Looks good, but the way the hwead slants forward so much seems very awkward, especially since heads naturally curve the opposite way.

sweet! small crits:
1 - some very small parts of the model have very large areas on the texture sheet
2 - would like to see slightly longer legs and a slightly shorter torso
3 - ears look funny navigating that big ledge area on the side of his head
otherwise AWESOME stylized character, i really like it!

Thanks, all of you!
Beaneh:
I've removed the wrinkle and I agree with you, it looks better that way. Don't really know why I made it back then.
franklyn:
I've added a wee bit of dirt here and there on the jacket, but not very much as I want to keep the cartoony look of it.
Ghostscape:
I know it isn't very realistic, but I wanted to give him a kind of sloppy appearence.
Adam Atomic:
1: I suppose you refer mainly to the cigarette and the sunglass. As the head originally didn't have these accessories I felt that I might as well make them as detailed as possible with the spare space, even though it isn't of much use.
2: Again, for the sloppy appearence.
3: I know...
Updated texture:

This is quite a spiffy character! He's got a lot of... character! A few things strike me as slightly odd and I may be the only one and/or they may be how you want them to, but I figured I'd toss them out there just in case they're helpful.
The cloth of the jacket and pants strike me almost as denim. The folds look somewhat rigid and the dirty areas, while a nice touch, really remind me of a crummy pair of old black jeans I love. If this is what you're going for, I'll buy it, but if it's a regular suit type thing, I think it's a little off. I believe a suit's folds would be smoother, longer and less faded. Actually, the thought of a wrinkly suited spy rather tickles me. You should grab a jacket of the material of your choice, sit on it for a few hours, kick it around and do what you have to to messy it all up, and use that as a reference!
Just a couple more quirks. Numero uno, the pockets on the jacket look too low to be useful for anything. I don't know whether this was intentional or not. Numero two, I have a bit of trouble comprehending what's going on with the shirt/collar area in front. It looks like a messy area to work with and again, I may just be the only one.
Hope any of this helps. Keep chipping away at it and start cranking out some buddies/enemies of his!
