View Full Version : BDRF shader won't load in LW8

Did a search and came up empty, so I'm guessing this isn't a bug. I'm a C4D user who's relatively new to LW. When I try to load BDRF shader in LW 8.2, I get an error message saying"could not create data object for BDRF plug-in." It works fine in LW 7.5. They still won't load the 8.3 upgrade onto our work machines. Maybe that would fix it? Is there something else I may be missing? Thanks!

It's not supported anymore and removed from the public sdk. Or so I read in the 8.3 release notes.

Does anyone have the source (from the last SDK before it was taken out in 8.3)
I don't have it in the 8.0 or 8.2 SDK
The Plugin itself, Does not show up in the Menu Plugins area of Modeler or Layout...
Yet it does work in Layout...
This was submitted as a Bug previous to 8.3...
And i was told it would be fixed...
So if anyone has the source, let me know and i'll try and fix it...

What is the problem with the plugin? In 8.3 it loads fine into modeler and doesn't cause any errors.

It does. Unfortunately, if you own the PShelf Metal presets, it says 'Could not create data object for BRDF plug-in'. I hope this is fixed...
Why would Newtek pull it out if there was no provided replacement?

So why does the pshelf metal presets cause an error but my surfaces don't? Are they doing something different?

the bug is that it will not load in saved data from a preset into the shader. You have to re enter it all. unfortunatly i dont know anyone who has all the vaules for the pshelf metals commited to memory. If you purchased them you out to email support and see if they will send you the values or you can load the presets in 7.5 and resave the file.

It's not just PShelf presets, it''s any preset with the BRDF shader.
For somereason, 8.3, fixed the problem by allowing it to be loaded now.
But it will not save the shader with the preset, you have to add it manually
So they fixed half the bug in 8.3.
